City Clerk
The Office of City Clerk is one of the oldest and most respected positions in municipal government. Its varied responsibilities are set forth in detail within the Mississippi Code of 1972, Annotated (MCA). The Clerk’s office represents the city to the citizens of the community, as well as to the city’s visitors.
The City Clerk is designated by statue, and serves as but not limited to the following:
- Auditor
- Bookkeeper
- Custodian of the official seal
- Registrar of Voters
- Recorder of the municipal minutes
- Prepares the budget
- Keeps a Docket of Claims
- Keeps the Ordinance Book
- Certify and publish the levy for municipal taxes
