Animal Department
The mission of the Holly Springs Animal Control is to provide safety for the citizens of the City of Holly Springs and to ensure the health and welfare of the animals in our trust at the shelter. We do this by responsibly and humanely enforcing state, county, and city animal laws and ordinances. Holly Springs Animal Control is also, cruelty and neglect investigations, injured animal rescues, animal placement and adoption, and disaster rescues.
Ordinance (section 17-11 through 17-1-37 of the Mississippi code of 1972) providing for the licensing and registration of all dogs within the city limits of Holly Springs. Section six of that ordinance prohibits any dog to be allowed to run at large within the city limits. No person shall own or keep or harbor any dog to allow or permit such dog to run large anytime within the city limits. Any person who violates this provision shall be charged with a misdemeanor violation and cited to municipal court.
Dogs picked up by Animal Control shall be held for 72 hours. Owner must show proof of rabies shots to reclaim your dog. Owner will also be required to purchase a registration tag. Fee for registration tag, capture and housing of the dog are as follows:
Capture $20.00
Housing $10.00
Tag $ 10.00
After 72 hours if dog is not claimed it will be assessed by Animal Control and determined if dog meet criteria for adoption. Any animals not meeting adoption criteria may be subject to humane euthanasia.
Animal Control Hours: 7 days a week 8 a.m. – 4 p.m. a division of the Holly Springs Police Department.
